Gatwick Airport: 61 countries that could be greenlisted after travel rules change in October
The current traffic light movement system is slated for major changes from October as the government seeks to overhaul the entire system.
The UK has been operating under the traffic light system since it was first implemented in May this year, but Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said it was time to simplify the rules.
As of October 4, the Amber List will be removed and PCR testing requirements will no longer be in place.

The red list will now include countries that are considered to be of “significant concern” in terms of COVID variants.
There are currently 53 countries on the green list, all of which are expected to remain off the red list after October 4.
Likewise, eight countries were removed from the Red List on September 22 – Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, Kenya, Maldives, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Oman – and it remains highly unlikely that these countries will be reinstated on the Red List after only two weeks.
This leaves a list of 61 countries that seem almost certain to be on the “green list” on October 4, but there is a high probability that many countries on the current Amber List will also be added to the new green list during the week. next.
People with a double bite will be able to travel to any country on the Green List and will only need to take a Day 2 lateral flow test upon their return to the UK.
Testing requirements have been reduced for eligible fully vaccinated travelers, who will no longer need to take a pre-departure test when they travel to England from 4 a.m. on October 4.
Unvaccinated people must quarantine themselves at home for eight to ten days after arriving from a greenlist country, and pay for two mandatory COVID tests on the second and eighth days of their quarantine.
However, Red List rules remain strict and people traveling to those countries will have to self-quarantine at a government-run hotel for the mandatory 11 nights, at a cost of £ 2,285 per person.
