INDIA: Following cabinet and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s approval last month, India has now ratified the Kigali Amendment to phase out HFC refrigerants.

India’s ratification, which closely follows that of China, gives a huge boost to the Kigali Amendment that commits countries to reducing HFC production and consumption by more than 80% in the past 30 years. coming years.

India’s economy is growing rapidly, and together with China and the United States, it is considered to be one of the highest current and potential HFC emitting countries in the world.

India will complete its four-stage HFC phase-down from 2032 with a cumulative reduction of 10% in 2032, 20% in 2037, 30% in 2042 and 80% in 2047.
