Celebrate your library!
National Library Week
April 3, 2021 – April 4-10, 2021 is National Library Week, a time to highlight the vital role libraries, librarians and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. The theme for this year’s National Library Week is “Welcome to Your Library”, which promotes the idea that libraries extend far beyond the four walls of a building and that everyone is welcome to use. their services. Whether people visit virtually or in person, libraries are accessible and inclusive places that foster a sense of belonging and community through learning, discovery and exploration.
The Lower Merion Library System (LMLS) is pleased to welcome its customers again – for limited navigation and in-person services. (Hours vary by library – please check website for latest hours.) During this time, we will also continue to offer contactless book pickup through advanced bookings at no charge. The six LMLS libraries (Ardmore, Bala Cynwyd, Belmont Hills, Gladwyne, Ludington and Penn Wynne) also offer a wide range of Online Resources that are available from the comfort of your home, including books, audiobooks and magazines, movies to download and stream, financial and consumer reference services, and more. We encourage all members of the community to explore and access the many virtual programs offered by their local libraries. As always, these programs and resources are brought to you free of charge thanks to the generous support of the Township of Lower Merion and the many volunteers and library board members who raise funds to support the programs and the purchase of books and books. annual material.
In these difficult times, Lower Merion Libraries have gone above and beyond to adapt to our changing world by developing and creating new resources to meet the needs of our clients. Some of these unique services include the Book a concierge service – a “handbag” of books selected by librarians according to the interests of clients, and special programs and homework help for children, and mobile hotspot loans, to only cite a few.
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national celebration sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each April. This National Library Week, Lower Merion Library users can show their appreciation and support for libraries by visiting your library’s website, following them on social media, and using the hashtag #NationalLibraryWeek.
