Mallorcan man arrested for infecting 22 people with coronavirus, including three babies.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested by police in Mallorca and charged with infecting 22 people with covidies, including three babies. The man, a resident of Manacor is accused of willfully spreading covid-19 to at least 22 people, eight of them directly and 14 indirectly, both at his workplace and at the gym where he trained.

Despite symptoms and a PCR test, he continued his normal life without waiting for the result or maintaining any type of quarantine, coming to work with a fever of over 40 degrees, according to several of his colleagues.

At work, he was coughing loudly all over, lowering his mask, while saying, “I’ll give you all the coronavirus.” Among those infected were several minors, including three babies barely one year old, Mallorca National Police reported.

It comes as the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Azores and some Greek islands are to be classified as safe tourist destinations by the British government, due to their low incidence of coronavirus infections. This means that travelers arriving in the UK from these locations will not have to self-quarantine, but will still need to submit a negative PCR test taken within the previous 72 hours.

“We are considering a test strategy for travelers during the summer season because we understand that the cost of a RAP negatively affects family tourism,” said Transportation Secretary Grant Shapps.

The Foreign Ministry will update the “traffic light” system for all European countries and regions in the coming weeks.

ABTA, TUI UK, Jet2, EasyJet Holidays, IAG and other airlines have been lobbying the UK government for weeks to clarify by region, not country.

The ban on international travel to the UK is expected to be lifted on May 17, so there is an urgent need to speed up the cataloging of ‘traffic lights’ by country.
