Pep Guardiola “BLOCKED two approaches from Parma to sign Phil Foden on loan in 2019” … the Manchester City boss rejected their offers after the Serie A team spotted him in a game against the England Under 21
- Phil Foden has become a regular at Manchester City over the past two seasons
- But he was targeted by Parma twice during the 2019 transfer window

- But Pep Guardiola wanted to keep him with David Silva coming to an end at City
Pep Guardiola blocked two Parma attempts to loan Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden two years ago, according to reports in Italy.
The 20-year-old has become one of England’s most exciting young talents and won many admirers with his excellent creative performances for Premier League leaders.
The England star is now a regular on Guardiola’s side but had to wait his turn, making just three Premier League appearances at 18 in the 2018/19 season.

And, according to Grand Hotel Calciomercato, Foden was a priority target for Parma after this campaign ended in his search for a young and talented player who could operate on a large scale.
It is claimed that Parma coach Roberto D’Aversa spotted the City youngster in England’s European Under-21 Championship opener against France in Cesena in June 2019.
Foden scored a sublime goal to put the Young Lions ahead, but two late French goals against England at ten saw the game end in a loss for Aidy Boothroyd’s men.
The same outlet claims that as a result, Parma took two steps to sign Foden on loan.
D’Aversa even personally called the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach to make him aware of the interest of the Italian squad.

But both efforts were pushed back by Guardiola, who saw him as an ideal and ready-made replacement for David Silva, who would leave City at the end of the following season.
Guardiola reportedly told D’Aversa: “He’s a young player, but he’s very strong. David Silva will leave and he will start this season.
Foden has grown steadily since he was given new opportunities in the first team and scored the game-winning goal in the Champions League quarter-final first leg victory on Tuesday night against the Borussia Dortmund.
The 20-year-old has scored 12 goals and registered nine more assists in 39 appearances in all competitions this quarter, and has already won the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup under Guardiola.
