São Jorge (Azores, Portugal): While hundreds of people have already left the island, especially from Velas, the authorities seem to be taking the situation very seriously. Contingency plans are activated and the army sets up camps in case people need to evacuate their homes.

Kita-Ioto (volcanic islands): A new eruption began on the remote island volcano yesterday afternoon. According to the Japan Meteorological Administration (JMA), explosions in the underwater Funka Asane crater near Ioto Island produced plumes of ash and steam that reached an altitude of 24,000 feet (8,000 m ) and drifted northeast.
The eruptions continued throughout the night. Media reports suggest the activity is underwater. Aircraft and ships have been warned to avoid the area due to the risk of plumes of ash, gas, as well as floating pumice and other debris from the eruption.
