We will do everything to qualify for the World Cup – Okoye ensures
Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is confident the Super Eagles will deliver the results needed to secure their place for the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup next year.
The three-time African champions reached the finals of the World Cup qualifiers qualifying series after finishing first in their group ahead of Cape Verde, Liberia and the Central African Republic.
But the poor performances in the six group games have eroded fans’ confidence in the team; with many calls for the sacking of head coach Gernot Rohr.
With CAF having decided to make the draw for the January World Cup on the basis of the FIFA rankings for December, Nigeria could face any of the great African teams, including Algeria, Morocco, Senegal and Cameroon, if the team formed by Rohr were to leave the top five of the continent.
But Okoye is certain his international teammates know what is at stake and give everything to choose a qualifying ticket for Qatar.
“I am very safe because one thing I have learned is that when it really comes down to when we have to do it, we’re going to do everything to get the win, âESPN said in the number one Super Gloves. Eagles.
“I saw him before I got into the Super Eagles, but I also saw him while I was with the Super Eagles, so I’m very sure that whatever happens we’ll get a ticket to a Cup. of the world.”
Okoye amhas made 13 appearances for the Super Eagles since his debut in 2019. But the 22-year-old has yet to make a major tournament for the 2013 AFCON Kings.
