What the ERC category winners said after the Serras de Fafe e Felgueiras Rally
This is what the winners of the FIA European Rally Championship category said after the Rally Serras de Fafe e Felgueiras.
“I feel good, it was the perfect weekend, Elliott did an amazing job, my Toksport team too. The car has been so reliable all weekend and it has been a pleasure to drive and a great experience. We managed to get out of trouble, drove smart and pushed where we needed to. It was the recipe for success this weekend. But it was really difficult conditions yesterday. We managed to avoid too many problems, we only had one puncture yesterday but it was very difficult for everyone, everyone had problems. I had some help from my friend Alexey, he had problems, and it made my life easier. It was a difficult and really pleasant weekend to be in Portugal. Alexey is still a guy who always pushes and always wants to win but we are the same but of course we have to think about the championship at the same time. In the end, he had some problems and that made my life a little easier. It’s looking really, really good for the championship now. We are going to Hungary and if we can get a good result there I hope everything will be fine for us.
JAVIER PARDO, SUZUKI MOTOR IBÉRICA, SUZUKI SWIFT R4LLY S (winner FIA ERC2)
“This weekend has been fantastic. The first day was very difficult with the rain and the fog but no errors and the two cars on the final podium are perfect and I thank the team for all the work. Yesterday it was very easy to make mistakes and I made two silly mistakes in the morning, but today it was easier, more relaxed and I was able to drive very carefully and now we are at it ‘arrival. There are two difficult rallies left, it’s difficult but I have to stay focused for the championship.
PEP BASSAS, RALLYE TEAM SPAIN, PEUGEOT 208 RALLY4 (winner FIA ERC3)
“Yesterday was very difficult with a lot of stones on stage and very dirty, but today was a good day. I am very sorry for Franceschi but it is a rally and it can happen. In the league, it’s very good. Rally Hungary is very difficult but we have two rallies left and the points will be important and in the Canaries I think we can push a little more. Hungary is similar to Barum and finishing the rally is very important. The stages are good but it’s tar, gravel, tar, gravel and it’s very difficult. After the Azores this victory was necessary but now we have to finish the next two rallies and it is then possible to win the championship.

“It was so much fun this rally and I’m really happy to be at the finish. I was a little nervous in the last special because you know what happened to me at Barum Rally when I crashed in the last special. But we made it to the finish line and thanks to all my partners and the team and all my family and all my supporters, it has been a very good week.
