Which municipalities have the highest levels of Covid-19 in Portugal?
Nineteen Portuguese municipalities are this week below the maximum level of contagion to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, with the municipality of Vimioso being the one with the lowest value, reveals the DGS epidemiological report published today.
The previous week, only the municipalities of Corvo, in the Azores, and Vimioso, in the district of Bragança, did not exceed 960 or more infections per 100,000 inhabitants, the highest level of the seven defined by the European Center for disease prevention. and control for this indicator.
This week below the maximum level are the municipalities of Alfândega da Fé, with 864 cases per 100,000 inhabitants), Celorico da Beira (937), Fafe (792), Felgueiras (848), Castanheira de Pera (737) , Freixo de Espada a Cinta (556), Meda (831), Miranda do Douro (503), Moimenta da Beira (896), Paços de Ferreira (851), Montalegre (822), Penedono (661), Lousada (711) , Murça (759), Porto Moniz (779), Vieira do Minho (908), Vimioso (227), Vinhais (736) and Vizela (916), according to the daily report on the Covid-19 situation in Portugal.
According to the report, among the remaining 289 municipalities with the highest incidence, the municipalities of Angra do Heroísmo (4,646), Calheta (4,590), Corvo (4,468), Lagoa (4,129), Lajes do Pico (4,225) and Ponta Delgada (4,419), all in the Azores, Portalegre (4,978), Viana do Alentejo (4,817) and Odemira, with 4,077 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
In the explanatory note of the data by municipality, published in the epidemiological bulletin of the DGS, it is mentioned that “the cumulative incidence at 14 days of infection by SARS-CoV-2 corresponds to the quotient between the number of new confirmed cases within 14 days prior to time of analysis and estimated resident population, by county”.
